White Sand and Sails: The Perfect Day in Boracay
Asia / Itineraries / Islands
Philippines · Boracay
Magazines like Conde Nast and Travel+Leisure regularly name Boracay one of the best islands in the world. After a major ecological rehabilitation, the island has regained its clarity: turquoise water and White Beach sand that feels like powdered sugar and never gets hot in the sun. For LGBTQ+ travelers, Boracay works as a resort “safe space.” There is no need to pretend here. Walk along the beach holding hands, watch the sunsets, and dance until dawn.
Safety and Ecology (Safety First)
Safety for LGBTQ+ individuals here is 10/10. The staff at luxury resorts, waiters, and locals are used to couples from all over the world.
Boracay's strict eco rules
Smoking, drinking alcohol from glass bottles, and littering are prohibited directly on the sand, and huge fines apply. Enjoy your cocktails within the boundaries of the beach clubs.
Morning: The Serenity of Station 1
White Beach is divided into 3 stations.
09:30 — Morning at Station 1
Station 1 is the widest, cleanest, and most exclusive part of the beach with the finest sand. Rent a Crystal Kayak or a paddleboard, since the water in the morning is smooth like glass. Take a photo in front of Willy’s Rock, a volcanic rock with a statue of the Virgin Mary standing right in the water.
12:30 — Puka Shell Beach
If you want to escape the crowds, rent an e-trike and head to the north of the island to Puka Shell Beach. The atmosphere is wilder and more secluded.
Evening: Golden Sunset and Sails
16:30 — Paraw Sailing
Boracay’s trademark is the “paraw” sailboats with blue sails. Book a boat for sunset time. You sit on a taut net directly over the water as the boat glides over the waves and the sky turns gold, pink, and purple. Few moments in Asia feel this romantic.
Night: The Epicenter of Station 2
19:30 — Seafood Dinner (D’Mall / Station 2)
Station 2 is the commercial and entertainment heart of the island. Have dinner with fresh oysters and grilled lobster.
22:00 — Epic Boracay and the LGBTQ+ Vibe
Boracay does not have strictly gay clubs because every club here is inclusive.
- Epic Boracay: The main beach club at Station 2. By day it’s a restaurant, by night a dance floor with top DJs. Mixed, friendly crowd.
- Exit Bar / Summer Place: Good spots to dance right on the sand with a relaxed international crowd.
Practical Solution: Transfers and Hotels
The Boracay transfer secret
Boracay has no airport — you fly into Caticlan, ride to the port, take a ferry, then an e-trike. Book a seamless Airport-to-Hotel transfer in advance; you will be met and taken right to your lobby without dragging luggage across piers.
- Romance and Luxury (Station 1): Discovery Shores Boracay. One of the best resorts in Asia. Luxurious suites, personal butlers, strong inclusivity. ($350–$500 / €320–€460)
- Style in the Center (Station 2): The Lind Boracay or Coast. Rooftop pools, good music, walking distance to bars. ($180–$250 / €165–€230)
