Thailand’s cultural capital draws digital nomads, yogis and queer expats. In 24 hours we’ll immerse ourselves in the mountain mystique and end the day at the north’s best cabaret.

Safety and Atmosphere

Morning: Mountains and Coffee

09:00 — Sacred Doi Suthep Mountain Take a red taxi (songthaew) up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple. The terrace offers a stunning panorama of the entire city. The chime of bells in the wind sets the right tone for the day.

12:00 — Hipster Nimman After coming down from the mountain, head to the Nimman district. Have a perfect flat white at Ristr8to and lunch on Khao Soi (egg noodles in coconut curry).

Afternoon: Old City

15:00 — The Old City Square Hire a bicycle and explore the lanes of the Old City, surrounded by a medieval moat. Visit Wat Chedi Luang — a giant ruined stupa.

Evening and Night: Night Bazaar and Ram Bar

19:00 — Street Food Head to the Night Bazaar or to the Chang Puak Gate. Try grilled pork or mango with sticky rice.

22:00 — Ram Bar Queer life is centred in the Night Bazaar area. Ram Bar is the heart of LGBTQ+ Chiang Mai. Amazing drag shows (the best in the north), a warm crowd, great cocktails and dancing.
