Afternoon: Gastronomy and Ximending
14:00 — Lunch at Din Tai Fung
Right at the base of Taipei 101 is the legendary Din Tai Fung. You must order the xiaolongbao — steamed dumplings filled with savory hot broth. Lunch for two: around $35–50 / €32–48.
16:00 — Ximending District
Move to Ximending, Taipei’s Harajuku: giant screens, street performers, and endless boutiques. The energy here is addictive.

Taipei is famous for its night markets. Try the black pepper bun and the grilled king oyster mushrooms before heading out for the night.
22:00 — The Epicenter of Freedom: The Red House
Head back to Ximending. Behind the historic octagonal red-brick building lies an outdoor square made up entirely of LGBTQ+ bars and terraces. This is the most vibrant and open queer space in Asia. Grab a table outside at Café Dalida — the crowd is an amazing international mix of locals, expats, and drag queens.
