The Gay Village around Canal Street, made famous by Queer as Folk, remains one of Europe's liveliest LGBTQ+ quarters, and Sackville Gardens holds the Alan Turing memorial. In 2026 Pride returns, rebuilt by the community itself — and the city welcomes it with northern warmth.
